As of 2006?The objective of the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International (the achievement of world understanding and peace through international charitable and educational programs) has been supported by our Club through donations to the Fund by individual members and by the Club. As of June 30, 1997, our Club had donated over $22,000 to the Foundation.

Rotary Foundation

Our Club has been involved in Rotary Foundation's programs: Group Study Exchange (an exchange of young business people between different countries, with the Foundation paying travel expenses). In 1979, BARRY MAXNER - a local farmer - was one of five farmers from our Rotary District to visit Australia for six weeks.

Several Study Groups have visited our District, and our Club co-hosted them with other Clubs. The groups visited local industries and attended a Club meeting. Rotarians supplied transportation, and in some cases our Club provided accommodations. Visiting Study Groups came from England, 1985; Argentina, 1987; Japan, 1990 and 1994; Hawaii, 1992; Scotland, 1995; England, 1997; New Zealand, 1998; Australia, 1999;        2000;            2001; and Australia, 2002.

Scholarships are another Rotary Foundation program, and in 1979 our Club proposed MARGI DAVIS for a Journalism Scholarship. Margi was accepted and she studied in England for a year, with costs covered by Rotary International. At the time Margi was employed by "The Hants Journal".
